PHUSE Texas brought together some of the brightest minds in clinical data science and healthcare technology this year, and HL7 Vulcan was proud to be part of the conversation.
At the Vulcan Pavilion, we hosted a series of presentations and facilitated roundtable workshops that brought together healthcare organizations, sponsors, and technology providers, all working through the same fundamental challenge: how do we move from interoperability in theory to interoperability in practice?
The discussions were candid, collaborative, and at times, refreshingly direct. It became clear that while the standards and technology exist, the gap between knowing and doing remains significant. As one participant put it, “I don’t think people are getting it,“ not as a criticism, but as an honest reflection of where the industry still has work to do.

What the Community Is Saying
From those conversations, weāve developed a series of thought leadership articles that we believe will resonate across the HL7 community:
- What Weāre Getting Wrong about Interoperability — the assumptions holding teams back
- Why the Real Bottleneck in Clinical Trials Isn’t What You Think ā and where attention should be focused
- Why Progress Still Feels Fragmented ā and what’s driving the disconnect
- How Momentum, Not Perfection, Drives Lasting Change – practical lessons from organizations making headway
